 Who We Are

Take Charge is a Southeast Wisconsin–based DJ and event entertainment company serving Milwaukee, the surrounding region, and the Chicago area.

Founded by Ricardo “Rick” Nunez, a classically trained musician, electronic music producer, and DJ, Take Charge combines musical knowledge with the energy and adaptability needed for modern weddings, private parties, corporate events, and celebrations.

Rick’s musical background began with piano performance and formal music training at the University of Texas at Austin. After moving to Philadelphia in 2017 to pursue a career as an R&D chemist, music remained a constant through DJing, electronic music production, live performance, and exposure to a wide range of musical styles and cultures.

Today, Take Charge specializes in creating personalized, high-energy events for diverse crowds. We have a particular passion for bilingual and Latino celebrations, including Mexican-American weddings and events where English- and Spanish-language music need to come together naturally on the same dance floor.

From cumbia, salsa, bachata, reggaeton, regional Mexican, and Latin pop to hip-hop, house, disco, funk, throwbacks, Top 40, and classic wedding favorites, we build sets around the people in the room rather than forcing every event into the same formula.

Our mission is to create memorable events through music that feels personal to our clients and their guests.

We take the time to understand your musical tastes, cultural traditions, must-play songs, and the atmosphere you want to create. From there, we build a musical experience that feels cohesive and intentional while still giving the DJ the flexibility to read the room and respond to the dance floor.

For bilingual and multicultural events, our goal is not simply to alternate between genres. We work to create smooth transitions between musical styles, generations, and cultures so the entire celebration feels connected.

Whether your event moves from Motown to cumbia, throwback hip-hop to reggaeton, disco to house, or incorporates a little bit of everything, Take Charge is focused on keeping the night energetic, musical, and uniquely yours.

Take Charge provides DJ and event music services throughout Milwaukee and Southeast Wisconsin, with travel available throughout the greater Chicago area and surrounding communities.

We welcome weddings and events of all backgrounds and especially enjoy working with couples and families planning bilingual, Latino, Mexican-American, and multicultural celebrations.
